Alex Fitch will be hosting a discussion and screening with animator and comic artist Majid Adin.
Adin is an award-winning animator, best known for his video made for a rerelease of Elton John’s iconic song Rocket Man and shorts such as “Women, Life, Freedom” (2024). He is currently working on his first graphic novel Hamid and Shakespeare, inspired by his experiences of being imprisoned and politically exiled from Iran.

John Curtis (AfriCartoons) and Terry Anderson (Executive Director, Cartoonists Rights) are discussing their workin promoting marginalised voices in comics, and protecting the rights of cartoonists from censorship and incarceration around the world.
John and Terry will be chatting with Alex about the current challenges to comic creators in Africa and the UK from politicians and online providers who censor, steal, and redact cartoonists’ work. This Q&A is taking place on the 32nd anniversary of South Africa’s Freedom Day and will include a retrospective on how the field of editorial cartooning has evolved since then.
