The Inking Woman is three years old! But this 250-year history of women cartoonists and comics artists in Britain is changing rapidly every year - more creators, more international, more diverse, and more online. How has the scene changed for women cartoonists and comics artists in the last three years, and what are the opportunities and challenges? How has the past year affected commissions from publishers and organisations? Authors Nicola Streeten and Cath Tate are both legendary in their support for women creators – Cath as the founder of Cath Tate Cards, publisher of so many women cartoonists of the 70s and 80s, and Nicola as the co-founder of Laydeez Do Comics, now known as LDComics, a truly international network of comic creators, led by women, open to all, with a focus on the every day.
The Inking Woman is a record of over 150 comic creators, showcasing their work and careers, and an invaluable resource for anyone wanting to celebrate comics history.
Alex Fitch (Resonance FM) will be interviewing Nicola and Cath on Monday 26 April 7pm-8pm for Cartoon County's last-Monday-in-the-month meet - now online! Register
