Walkabout Bethnal Green with ILYA/Ed Hillyer

And now for something completely different: ILYA takes time out of the business of making comics to take a very short walk along the canal in Bethnal Green to Meath Gardens, where the real-life model for the hero of his novel The Clay Dreaming, was buried in 1868. Bripumyarrimin, a member of the historic Aboriginal Australian cricket tour of England in 1868, died on 24th June the same year. Meet at Mile End tube on 24th June at 6.45pm for 7pm visit to Meath Gardens, where we'll raise a glass, hear a story or two, and toast the memory of "King Cole" at an unofficial fringe event inspired by the British Museum's Australian Season Walkabout.
